Beattie is Back was back at Newcastle on Thursday 20 January for only his second race.

This time it was underlights as the horse ran in the 18.30pm, The Play Coral Racing Super Series for Free Novice Stakes (Class 5) 7 Furlong race.

Although he showed a bit when sixth of twelve in a novice race at same course (6f) on his debut only 14 days ago, the odds seemed against him as he started at 16/1.

Hopes were high as Beattie is Back came out of the stalls a lot better than he did previously and rode well as he just pipped 3rd place on the post.

There were loud celebrations as the result was announced and the Foundation’s founder, Malcolm Thompson quickly got pictures with the Foundation’s flag at the winners enclosure and with the jockey Tony Hamilton.

The highlight was yet to come as a round of applause broke out in the owners/trainers bar/restaurant as Malcolm walked back in. Amazing feeling was how Malcolm felt and it was obvious Beattie is Back has made an impact.

Even the Sky Commentary mentioned Kevin Beattie and the Foundation as per the video.

Great night was had and the Foundation was also asked if they could help the Jack Berry House so all in all, the horse like KBF has a great future.
